Create Photo Slideshows with PhotoPeach

PhotoPeach is a new photo slideshow service. It’s currently free and allows 100 photos per slideshow. Users can create up to 100 slideshows. Photos can be uploaded from your computer or retrieved from Facebook, Picasa or flickr. In addition to a selection of music on the site, users can search for and use music used as background in YouTube videos.

Transitions from slide to slide seem to remain the same regardless of the music tempo, something that slideshow service Animoto has mastered. It’s easy to add titles/notes to each slide, but I couldn’t find a way to edit them. Viewers can also leave comments, though I couldn’t find a way to delete comments.

This service creates attractive slideshows with great quality photos and it’s easy to use. I assume they’ll be adding more features in the future.

Free Photography & Images

decorationWhile trying to clean old files off my computer tonight, I came across a folder full of free stock photos that I downloaded from dreamstime.com ages ago. So in the interest of further procrastinating, I went looking for more free stuff at Dreamstime! (more…)

SimpleViewer Photo Gallery Tool

Simple Viewer screenshot I wasn’t looking for software to make web based photo galleries and I can’t remember what led me to this tool, but SimpleViewer is a very nifty tool. I used the free desktop version that works with Picasa and quickly created a slick looking photo gallery.

The download file from SimpleViewer is a template that Picasa uses to create a web page of your photos. Simply pick the photos for the photo gallery, export them using the SimpleViewer template and upload the files to your web server. All the directions are on the SimpleViewer site.

No doubt there are many other photo gallery tools out there, but I like the look and feel of these photo galleries and it really was simple. Granted the free version doesn’t have captions and titles for the photos. Those features appear to be available in their Pro ($45) server based version. There are other SimpleViewer tools available for use with flickr and WordPress.

Any other suggestions for great looking photo galleries?

Flickr’s own embeddable slide show

There are plenty of ways to embed a slideshow of your flickr photos on your web/blog/wiki page. But up till now, there was no quick and easy way to do it directly from your flickr account.

Now you can copy and paste a simple line of code to embed a slide show of any of your sets of photos, your photostream, tags, search results and so on. There aren’t too many options with the slideshow, currently just the size of the slideshow can be changed. There aren’t any photo captions or links back to your flickr account. No doubt flickr will add features as time goes by.

Check out the flickr blog post: Our new slideshow: pass the popcorn! for more details.

And for a whole slew of other ways to embed flickr photos on your web/blog/wiki pages, check out my Flickr Slide Shows wiki page. Some of these 3rd party tools still have more options than the new flickr slide show service.
