Cool Tools for Webmasters

Internet Librarian – Frank Cervone (and Darlene Fichter – who couldn’t be  there)

This is always a very userful session, full of great tips and  tools  Looking forward to  testing out some of these that are new to me. Will blog about the ones that I find particularly useful.

WordPress Workshop at Internet Librarian

IMG_2967 Had a terrific first day at Internet Librarian yesterday. Taught a preconference workshop on WordPress with Kyle Jones, who skyped in and was the sage voice from behind the screen – very Wizard of Oz! Diana Wakimoto took great notes during the session over on the always interesting Waki Librarian blog.

Did a bit of lobby loitering talking to colleagues, followed by a great meal at Cibo’s with one of the dine-around groups. I love the dine-arounds. If you’re traveling alone or just feel like meeting a whole bunch of new people, these are perfect events. Good meals with a bunch of fellow librarians. I’ve made some wonderful friends and connections this way.

Looking forward to the Gaming & Gadgets event tonight. And another session on Monday on WordPress in School libraries with Buffy Hamilton.  Right now, I should get back to work on workshops coming up when I get home, but the waves, the beach, the birds – all very distracting!

Good morning Monterey!

Ocean waves seagull

Glad to be in Monterey for the Internet Librarian conference. The program looks terrific and what can beat the weather in Monterey, especially when it’s already feeling wintery back home.

I’m looking forward to teaching a workshop this afternoon on using WordPress as a content mgmt system. And also can’t wait to meet up with lots of friends old and new.

Follow the live twitter stream. Hash tag for the conference is #il2009

Busy Month!

If you’re looking for me this week, I’m in Connecticut doing training sessions for the CT State Library and visiting with my CT library friends. Yay! I’m spending most of  the week at the Darien Public Library which is always a treat, but even  more so this time, since  these sessions are in their new library. Later in the week, I’ll be at the Simsbury Public Library another wonderful & welcoming library.

Classes this week are:

Next week I’m hoping to get to the SUNYLA Library Software Users Group Conference.  But I’m really sorry to be missing the New York Library Association Annual Meeting – I haven’t missed this in many years.

To top off the month, I’ll be at Internet Librarian in Monterey, CA teaching a preconference workshop on using WordPress as a Content Mgmt System.  The conference program is chock full of great programs and speakers. And you can’t beat the location!

Hope to see YOU somewhere in my travels this month.
